親愛なる「ともに歩む会」支援者の皆様。
数年にわたり、私たちにお示しくださいました皆様のご協力と親愛の情、改めて心からの感謝を申し上げたいです。私たちの学校で行われている給食支援は、特に今現在、給食支援が実施されている小学校と幼稚園の入学希望者が多くなっています。小学校と幼稚園だけでなく、村からきている20名の中学生も給食プログラムのお世話になっています。頂いた支援の中ですべての必要を満たすために、シスター吉田は2か所のローカルマーケット、ルンサから近いフォレドウグ村のマーケットと、カンビアに近く、マンゲブレから数マイルのロクプルのマーケットに、月一度の買い出しに行きました。「ルマ」と呼ばれるこのローカルマーケットは、近隣の村や国境を越えたギニアからも、仲買の人々が、村々で栽培された農産物を運んできます。値段は卸値ですので、ドルの交換レートが不安定の中、安い値段で買うことができ、頂いた支援のうちで、子供たち一人一人にお食事をあげることができました。
給食以外でも、この給食支援は、調理をする婦人たちの雇用を通して、その家族を養う手助けにもなっています。９９０万円、これらの必要のために使用いたしました。

グアダルペ学園中・高等部への900,000円の奨学支援は、大学生のための支援となっています。高等部を卒業した多くの生徒が、能力的に可能ですが、大学の学費が高いために大学で勉強するのが困難な状態にあります。また、グアダルペ学園では、エボラの期間に亡くなった教師の子息も支援しています。この先生（アブドウル コンテさん）は、亡くなった時40歳の前半でしたので、コンテさんが亡くなった時、長男は、高等学校の最終学年でした。ほかの子供たちは、中学校と小学校に通っています。コンテさんの子息が無事大学を終え家族を支援できるようになるまで、奥さんは、読み書きの得意な方ではありませんので、私たちの学校の調理人として働いています。
グアダルペ学園は、奨学支援だけではなく、頂きました50,000円の多目的支援により、大雨により倒壊し、無防備になっていた裏側の塀の修理をしなければならないという問題を解決できました。女子寮が学校の敷地内にありますので、塀がないということは、危険でした。皆様からのご支援により、この問題をすぐに解決でき、感謝あるのみです。
900,000円のマリアイネス学園への奨学支援は、今年度は、試験センターから請求される高額な試験費用を支払うことができないマリアイネス職業センターの最終学年の多くの生徒の試験費用に使用しました。多くの女性は、試験の後、商業科、被服・裁縫科、家政科、食物科と美容科などそれぞれの学部で実技実習を受け、自分の学んだことに親しみを感じ、仕事を探すことができるのです。50,000円の多目的支援は、パンの作り方など今まで教えていなかった新しい料理の作り方や、台所をどのように清潔に保つかなどを教える食物科の特別講師のための支払いに使用しました。
医療支援のための300,000円。皆様ご存知のように、鉱山閉鎖後のルンサの経済状態は、多くの人々が失業しています。そのような状態ですので、医療支援は、多くの病気の方々、特に幼い子供たちの助けとなりました。クリニックあるいは薬局に病気の方々を送るだけではありません、何回も病人を病院にも送ることが出来ました。医療支援は、グアダルペ学園中・高等部のみにとどまらず、グアダルペ学園小学部そしてマリアイネス学園にも支援しました。
184,061円の「玉川ランチ」は、毎年全校で待っている「贈り物」です。大祝日・グアダルペの聖母マリア祭に用意される生徒のためのおいしいお食事は、この日を偉大なものにします。この日に生徒たちが楽しみにしている牛を、皆で興奮して待っています。牛が、学校の敷地内に入ると同時に、子供たちの叫びと手拍子が、そこにいる皆に喜びをもたらします。
クリニックマイル91支援・30,000円。クリニックマイル91では、毎日多くの患者を診療しています。多くの方々は、シスターたちが薬のために請求するわずかな金額でも支払うことができません。そうかといって、健康を回復することは必要不可欠なことであることだとわかっていますので、この方々に薬をあげないということもできません。患者さんの中には、支払いのために鶏や、自分の畑で採れた果物や野菜を持ってきます。支援金、ありがとうございます。これにより、シスターたち、薬の購入を続けることができます。何らかの形で薬代を支払いたいとの自尊心から、自分のできる限りのもので支払う人々の尊厳を保ちながら、人々を助けるのです。

Mr. Kanno and members of walking together group,
We
want to say a big thank you once more for the solidarity and closeness you have
shown to us all these years. The feeding program for our schools brings many
students particularly at the kindergarden and primary school where the program
continues. Also, not only Kindergarten and Primary children, 20 student of
secondary school those who are coming from villages. In order for the
assistance to be able to cover all the needs, Sr. Yoshida goes、ones a
month, to two local markets, one at Foredugu, a village close to Lunsar and the
other at Rokupr close to Kambia and few miles after Mange Bureh. These
movements in the local markets locally known as “luma” bring people from
different areas, also after the border, Guinea to sell their products as
wholesale. At the same time it is of great help to us as the rate of
exchange is not stable but thank God still enough to offer a plate of rice to
each child.. A part from feeding, the program also helps the families of the
cooks. This is done thanks to the employment of women that prepare the meal for
the schools. The sum of ¥ 9,900,000 was used for this purpose.
In
the Kindergarten the assistance goes mainly to the payment of community
teachers. After seeing the difficulties, the other schools have in dealing with
the Ministry of education officials and some authorities in the town, we have
seen the need to remain private. Therefore while we adjust in the payment of
fees from the parents, the school is unable to pay all the teachers that are in
the school. Your help gives us the opportunity to offer to the children good
education and at the same time recruiting the number of teachers needed to take
care of the little ones. Children from 3 to 5 years need more attention than
the bigger ones and as the number has increased to 286 thanks to the classrooms
constructed two year even more teachers are needed. Therefore the sum of ¥
800,000 was more than welcomed as it helped greatly to bring the academic year
to an end.
Our
Lady of Guadalupe Secondary with the ¥900,000 received for scholarships, can
now help students at University level. A good number of those that finish their
senior School find difficult to pay the high fees of the University and yet
they have the capacity to succeed at a higher level. The school is also helping
the son of one of our former teachers who died during the ebola. Mr. Abdul
Conteh was in his early forties and therefore his eldest son was finishing the
senior school at the time of Mr. Conteh’s death. Mr. Conteh’s wife, being
illiterate works as cook in one of our schools while the son attends University
hoping to help the family when finishing. The rest of her children are still in
the secondary and primary school. The school did not only help in the studies
but could also, with the multipurpose amount of ¥ 50,000 solved the problem of
the back fenced of the school which collapsed due to the heavy rains and that
left the school unprotected. Having the boarding home students in the compound
it is a risk not to have fence. Your help solved the problem in no time for
which we are thankful.
Maria
Ines scholarship assistance of ¥ 900,000, was able this year to help the women
in paying the exams fees as many of them are unable to afford the huge amount
that the examination Centre ask to the final year students. Many women after
the exams offer practical in the different courses such as commerce, clothing
and tailoring, home economi cs, Catering and cosmetology making them feel more
familiar with the courses they complete and able to find job. And \50,000 for
the multipurpose we could pay for extra teacher for Catering Section to teach
new dishes, like how to bake bread, etc, and how to keep clean the
kitchen.
￥300,000 for Medical Support. As you know the economic condition
of Lunsar after the closing of Mining, many people are jobless. So your medical
support served so many sick people, especially for the little ones. Not only “Clinic” or “Farmacy”, many times we
could send them to hospital. This Medical support is not only OLG, also OLG
Primary and Maria Ines.
Tamagawa
Lunch of ¥ 184,061 is a “present” all the schools expect every year as their
delicious lunch marks a big day on the celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
The cow they enjoy on that day is something they expect with great enthusiasm.
As soon as the cow enters the compound the shouting and clapping of children
brings joy to all of us. With how little people can be happy!!
For
the Mile 91 Clinic・\ 30,000. The Mile 91 Clinic attends a large number of
patients every day. Many cannot afford the meagre amount the sisters charge for
the medicine; and yet it is difficult to deny it as we know that it is
necessary to regain their health. Some of them come to the clinic to pay either
with chickens or with any fruit or vegetable they have from their harvest.
Thanks to the money that is available the sisters can continue buying medicine
while helping the people to maintain their dignity “paying” with whatever they
have as it is out of self- respect that they come to ask for medical
attention with whatever they can offer.
We
know and understand that the financial situation of many is not an easy one but
we are all certain that whatever little that is given to us is greatly
appreciated as drop after drop alleviates and quenches the thirst of many.
Now
we, Sr.Elisa and Sr.Yoshida are leaving from OLG for new assignments, but we
never forget your generous assistance for Sierra Leone, particularly Our Lady
of Guadalupe, Lunsar. May God bless you for your generosity, we remember you
always in our prayer.
