Sr. Shirahata talks about her experiences for the 3 month period from February
13th. Some of those include, the outbreak of the Ebola virus in
Guinea, rice distribution from the WFP in April, Sr. Adriana Juarez Navarette
returning from Mexico, and a visit by Mr. Takashi Kimijima, JICA project specialist, in May.
Continuing on to page 4, is a report
from Fr. Michael Baimba Conteh, on how the $6,000 in lunch fund support was
utilized in 2020 and 2021.
Following is an article titled
“Finishing the ”HOPE” Spelling Contest”, by OLG teacher SR. Blanca Maribel
Lopez Garcia. While the official language of Sierra Leone is English, not many uses
in their homes and so it is still a very difficult language to learn. For this,
this contest was held to motivate kids, but was also a very good opportunity to
raise the expectations of parents in regards to learning.
From the middle of page 5 to 6, is a
message from RECS International Inc, Mr. Takashi Kimijima titled “Visiting
Sierra Leone after 1 year and 3 months”. RECS International undertakes ODA
activities with technological efforts to raise productivity of making rice. He
talks about Sr. Shirahata and the current status of Sierra Leone.
Kadiatu Kargbo, reflects back on losing her
parents but being able to study through support from our organization “Walking together”. It
is called “My Background” on pages 6 and 7.
The bulletin wraps up with voices from
supporters and information from HQ on pages 7
and 8.
